Published writing

We publish our writing in a variety of ways. We use a website called Littlebird tales. You can upload photos or use paint tools to illustrate your piece of writing. You can also record your voice telling your story.

Communication topic

Communication is our main topic this term. Here are our first ideas about what we think communication is.

We have been learning about the history of some technologies. In science we are learning about how musical instruments make sound.

In te reo we are learning about the different ways people communicate on the marae.

Rippa Rugby skills

For PE this term we are learning how to play Rippa Rugby. We have watched how to play this game on video and have been practising our passing and catching skills during PE sessions.

We also play mini games of touch and turbo tag to help us improve our skills.

Lolly experiment

We have been predicting, making observations and recording our findings in science. We tasted, touched, smelled and looked carefully at how coloured lollies change when they are immersed in water.
It was lots of fun and very interesting.

Class ipad

We are very lucky to have a class ipad. We take photos, videos and complete different activities on it.

Photos taken with our class ipad

Making cloaks

We are working in small groups to create korowai or cloaks. We have learnt about what cloaks are, viewed images of different types of cloaks and drawn our own designs.

Weather vanes

As part of our science study, we made weather vanes. We used paper plates, pencils, pins, cardboard and blue tack. We watched a You Tube clip to see how we made them and then went outside to test them. We used the compass bearings that were painted behind Room 25 to set our compasses north. We found out that there was a north easterly blowing on the day we tested them. A fun and interesting activity.

Ball skills in pairs

We have started learning different skills in tennis.
We are learning how to grip the raquet correctly, control the tennis ball on our raquet and practise different hand-eye co-ordination skills.
It's lots of fun and we are working hard to improve our skills.
Watch out Rafael Nadal!

Cricket skills

                                                           Cricket skills

We have been learning how to catch, throw and bat in cricket. Sid, our coach from Sport Auckland, has been showing us how to catch by spreading our fingers apart and 'closing the
cage' when the ball lands in our hands.
